Our problem is that most of our youth players turn out to be nothing but shit and we sell any decent prospect we have.

I've heard rumours about the rule not applying if he went abroad, but I don't think its true. I swear the likes of Man U and Chelsea have had to pay fees for youngsters out of contract before.

Boothroyd had the remit to pick the team and choose the tactics. Anything monetary was out of his hands......because SISU didn't have any.

The baliffs coming round should have been a massive clue.SISU couldn't offer new and better contracts because they hadn't got the money to pay the players.
If the players had become injured and couldn't be sold, even SISU realised we would be up shit creek even further than we are.

but he was still one of the worst (if not the worst) managers in living memory. He made Coleman look quite good

It makes me laugh how AB was a victim of SISU, yet Coleman seems to be responsible for his time here and SISU have nothing to do with it. Doesn't really make any sense seeing how Coleman seemed to be building a half decent team then had 2 of the 'Big 4' ( ) sold beneath him, yet Boothroyd seems to be forgiven for wasting massive wages on players and signing a player on a 3 year contract who will probably never play for the club because he simply isn't anywhere good enough.

Which part of Bothroyd fucked up and let two saleable assets walk on frees? He had the remit over who stayed and went and could have easily put either player up for transfer a year ago but chose not too.

Read the quotes from Boothroyd - it was his decision not to sell Kieren and Aron when we had the chance. Now he may not be responsible for the lack of offering them new contracts earlier (and neither is Coleman), but not getting a return on them by selling them when it was looking increasingly unlikely they'd be staying is firmly at his door.

Under Coleman promising players had been sold on, and RR stated that no-one would be walking out the door for free, and any player with under a year left on their contract would be sold as it was better to get something for them than nothing.

That stopped under Boothroyd, so RR/SISU must have given him the benefit of the doubt of keeping hold of players and letting them run down their contracts as their presence in the team was more vital than the money.

Now maybe the odd million we'd have got for them wouldn't have gone far, maybe the team would have been worse and been relegated had they gone mid-season, but either way the reason these players left for nothing was Boothroyd, not SISU
