You can bitch & moan all you like that they're not good enough......but you've gotta give them a chance....

Besides... Thorn is right......

It is vital for a club like ours to produce our own home-grown talent which can supplement players we bring in, and equally important that young players are seen to be given a real crack at the first team, because that will encourage others to join."

But what of Cameron, who for me is the most likely of the lot to make it.

If the end of last season is anything to go by, Clarke will be given the chance to succeed, and, if Keogh continues to play in the centre, Cameron's chances will be much reduced.

I agree that building a side from youth players is financially the right way to go.

Our problem is that most of our youth players turn out to be nothing but shit and we sell any decent prospect we have.

The club have never had the mind to build any team because everyone is for sale.....Fox and Dann for instance.

The purchase & sale of Fox & Dann was good business.....

....the NON-sale of westwood & gunnar is where city fall down....

Everyone is for sale......correct...just look at Arsenal, Man Utd, liverpool & Spurs who can't hold on to their best players....

......Everyone is for sale because football sold out!

Westwood and Gunnarsson should have gone in January. Both were replaceable.

Did anybody expect Westwood to stay? I think he would have done if offered new terms last summer, and not been messed around by AB. After the season started I think we all new he would be off.

I'd like to keep Gunnar if we can, but at least we'll get a fee if he moves on, he is under 23 and we offered a new contract. The positive from losing Westwood and King is we have saved over £1million a year in wages, if the figures that are rumoured are true, which might give Thorn the flexibility to get a few extra faces in if he is focusing on young, unproven, talent.

I've heard rumours about the rule not applying if he went abroad, but I don't think its true. I swear the likes of Man U and Chelsea have had to pay fees for youngsters out of contract before.

If he moves abroad we get nothing - same happened with Ledley at Cardiff if he had signed for Stoke then they would have got a fee but as he moved to Celtic they got nothing. Not only was Bothroyd one of the worst managers we have ever had but he failed to cash in or make people in the last year of contracts sign. This time last year we should have offered Westwood and Gunner a contract and said sign or go on transfer list. If they were unwilling to sign then dont play them and bring in replacements on loan etc - when they dont get picked for internationals they will soon either sign or find another club.

which bit of "SISU don't have any fucking money", don't you understand ?

Boothroyd had the remit to pick the team and choose the tactics. Anything monetary was out of his hands......because SISU didn't have any.

The baliffs coming round should have been a massive clue.SISU couldn't offer new and better contracts because they hadn't got the money to pay the players.
If the players had become injured and couldn't be sold, even SISU realised we would be up shit creek even further than we are.

It makes me laugh how AB was a victim of SISU, yet Coleman seems to be responsible for his time here and SISU have nothing to do with it. Doesn't really make any sense seeing how Coleman seemed to be building a half decent team then had 2 of the 'Big 4' ( ) sold beneath him, yet Boothroyd seems to be forgiven for wasting massive wages on players and signing a player on a 3 year contract who will probably never play for the club because he simply isn't anywhere good enough.
Whoever is first in the field and awaits the coming of the enemy, will be fresh for the fight; whoever is second in the field and has to hasten to battle will arrive exhausted.

So if you dont have any fucking money then you let the few saleable assests walk out on a free,

Which part of Bothroyd fucked up and let two saleable assets walk on frees? He had the remit over who stayed and went and could have easily put either player up for transfer a year ago but chose not too.

http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/covent ... -27802783/

Read the quotes from Boothroyd - it was his decision not to sell Kieren and Aron when we had the chance. Now he may not be responsible for the lack of offering them new contracts earlier (and neither is Coleman), but not getting a return on them by selling them when it was looking increasingly unlikely they'd be staying is firmly at his door.

Under Coleman promising players had been sold on, and RR stated that no-one would be walking out the door for free, and any player with under a year left on their contract would be sold as it was better to get something for them than nothing.

That stopped under Boothroyd, so RR/SISU must have given him the benefit of the doubt of keeping hold of players and letting them run down their contracts as their presence in the team was more vital than the money.

Now maybe the odd million we'd have got for them wouldn't have gone far, maybe the team would have been worse and been relegated had they gone mid-season, but either way the reason these players left for nothing was Boothroyd, not SISU

At the time tho' (5th in the League) he said what every City fan wanted to hear.
To suggest otherwise is absurd.
