http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/covent ... -27802783/Read the quotes from Boothroyd - it was his decision not to sell Kieren and Aron when we had the chance. Now he may not be responsible for the lack of offering them new contracts earlier (and neither is Coleman), but not getting a return on them by selling them when it was looking increasingly unlikely they'd be staying is firmly at his door.
Under Coleman promising players had been sold on, and RR stated that no-one would be walking out the door for free, and any player with under a year left on their contract would be sold as it was better to get something for them than nothing.
That stopped under Boothroyd, so RR/SISU must have given him the benefit of the doubt of keeping hold of players and letting them run down their contracts as their presence in the team was more vital than the money.
Now maybe the odd million we'd have got for them wouldn't have gone far, maybe the team would have been worse and been relegated had they gone mid-season, but either way the reason these players left for nothing was Boothroyd, not SISU
