I fucking love St. Andrews.....I've played the Eden course and one day hope to get the chance to play the Old course......although I will need a better quality fake H/C certificate

Anyway...Who is gonna win The Open :?:
......waiting for the great leap forwards [smilie=icon_paper.gif]

I've played the Eden aswell. A mate who i was working at Turnberry with last year for the open is working at St Andrews now, he'll be cutting fairways, hope he'll be able to get me a round in a few weeks. You get your photo taken on the Swilken bridge PS?

As for Open winners, still dont think Tigers game is good enough yet, but he does like St Andrews so i expect he'll be favourite. I'm expecting a strong show from the brits, especially Westwood, and Rose on current form. Also watch out for Chris Wood, could be good outsider.

One of the most open Opens for ages.
Love to see Watson do well again but can't see it.

Don't like what Poulter said. He's now gotta put his golf where his mouth is, twat.

Litle bit of wind and off they come

Nice to see low scores and driving the greens on par 4's, love this, none of this lengthening the fuck out of courses resulting in one under par winning.

Good golf course design can make a course tough without resorting to length.
Unfortunately many courses are just long, and it's their only defence, I only play these once. 8)

Amen to that. Some of the best holes i've ever played are shorter ones, some of the toughest aswell, designed by some of the best, and they've stood the test of time. Fascinating watching some of lines they're taking on putts, it all about the imagination.

Lloydy, the winner won and that's all the records will ever show but do you think that the R n A dropped a bollock on Fruday with their pins?
The winds were forecast and yet Mcilroys 63 seemed to be their sole consideration.
Looking back the tournament was decided then and there IMHO.

Quite possibly. A 63 opening day, course record and all that, would of shock them up a bit. Especially with some of the lenghtening changes they made (and paid for). Tougher pins combined with the wind meant they protected the course a bit too much. I can see what they were trying to do, but add in the wind and it was a step too far for sure. This was amplified by the different condition from those who went out early, and those who went out late.

I have to agree with Peter Aliss in thinking that there are too many people in the open field on day 1 and 2. Slash it a bit and maybe the contrast wont be as great. Or look into a two tee start, but obviously that isn't practival everywhere. taking 10+ hrs to get everyone htrought the first tee is taking the piss a bit.

As for Ooosthaeiven, or however the fuck you spell it) best man won no doubt. Even if Casey did play better there's no way he'd of caught him. That first missed birdie putt did it for him. And after going into the gorse on 12 it was a formality, which is a shame as i fancied it being a playoff.

Won be long till another british major winner surely, Casey and Westwood really developing into the real deal i think.

Don't think I'd change anything tbh.
The large field is part of the Open being unique.....also getting the luck of the draw....Maybe the only thing that needs challenging is- as you said - that par needs protecting.
Agree also about Casey and Westwood but Poulter?
Arrogant twat.

Not a fan of poulter, giving it the big I am with nothing to back it up with. Heard something aliss said in commetary about sports psychologists, he said poulter was asked if he used em and replied - 'why do i need to pay someone else to tell me how good i am'. prick, with his head shoved so far up his arse its frightening.

Was speaking to the club pro yesterday about Casey and he said that in terms of talent he has it all but no hunger, ;-).
A journey man pro, who hasn't the ruthless desire to make the step up like a Faldo or Woods.
He was disgusted with his putt on the 1st hole, Sunday - "fucking rubbish".
What he did say tho was that given the same situation Poulter would have drained it....!?
Talent wise, Poulter isn't in the same league, but consequently knows he has to make the most of the opportunities when they come along. Maybe this is why he bigs himself up. ?
