I was watching the Palace/Wolves game tonight, or at least I was until ITV4 just gave up ghost. Shaun Derry was doing his usual job of breaking up play in front of the back four. That's what we are missing. A good *experienced* pro who knows how to stop the opposition without consistently giving away fouls (ie. not Doyle). It's OK having a strategy of looking for young talent, but we need some frigging backbone and Gunnarson is just not providing it. It would be money well spent to look for someone of Derrys' ilk. They don't need to be Essien to play in the Championship.

We did. His name was Osbourne.

He may have limited abilities but protecting the back four is one thing he can do very well. But successive regimes have either overlooked him for Doyle or he's been forced to fill in elsewhere. After so many seasons of that I think the lads just lost all confidence, which is a shame.
Ranson - managing the club and finances sensibly but isn't a great PR man
Boothroyd - who knows yet?

I've been a fan of Derrys for a long time. Fucking hate Dickov.

Telegraph are reporting we're not in for Vaughan.

My wild guess would be Shola Ameobi.

I think it could be Marlon Harewood.

Jon Stead.

Vaughan shold be in by the end of the week, loan till the end of the season with a view towards a very expensive transfer in the summer-which I suspect means it is only really a loan till the end of the season.

Where did you hear this?? I thought Everton were after a six figure fee just to send him on loan?

My source is the brother of somebody who works in the press office for the club. He is usually pretty accurate.
