I can't understand some of the bad feeling towards him? I'm pleased he's won a major even though he's a jock. He played well and fully deserved his victory.

Went to bed at the end of the second set and said to the missus that Murrey would win it in 5.

Working with Lendl, and winning at Wimbledon, have toughened Murray up mentally to the point where he can now make the big three in tennis the big four. Never been much in it in terms of ability between Fed, Nadal, Djokovic and Murray but the Scot needed to catch up in terms of mentality.

I think he will go on to win 3 or 4 now, Fed is declining and Nadals knees are fucked so so he is going to have a great chance in the US, Aussie and Wimbledon for the next three or four years.
Have fun

Federers first grand slam win came against Philippoussis (then Safin). He came to prominence when there was a vacuum left by Sampras and Agassi. Nadals first win came against Mariano Puerta (who?) before Federer improved his clay court game. Djokovic won his first final against a relatively unknown and unseeded Tsonga. Murrays five finals have been against either Federer or Djokovic.

Before this week 29 of the last 30 grand slams have been won by one of the big three and each has consistently got to the latter stages meaning Murray has consistently had to beat two of them. This time the route was that little bit easier but no less so than when the other three won their first major.

Strangely despite him going off the boil in the third set (and the start of the fourth) I still fancied him to win. When he was one set up Djokovic would still have been most peoples favourite but when he won the second all of a sudden Murray was in the drivers seat. He needed the underdog status to get him playing his best and he became that once Djokovic had pulled it level. The good thing was Murray still didn't make those two sets easy. Djokovic had to work hard to get back into the game and that told in the final set.

I think Murray owes Del Potro somewhat for softening up Djokovic but nonetheless it was thoroughly deserved particularly considering the pressure the media and fans heap on him.
