I'd love the Broncos to win it, my aunt loved John Elway so everytime I visited we ended up watching tapes she'd had sent over from the US.

Haven't seen them in a few years, so couldn't comment on how they play now but I still have a soft spot for them.

Not saying he has proved anything yet, just that he has started to prove people wrong. Defensively against the better teams we all know he will be found out, but his delivery and set pieces make him an asset to most teams. I am sure he won't be a future top player, but I see no reason why he can't hang around in the lower to mid table Premiership teams.

It's not exactly what he said, and he has got a point about it can work on the counter-attack, but on the whole it is a defensive tactic as it's designed to help the defence more than the attack. He mentions three good chances we had against Blackpool, without mentioning they had a higher number of chances and hit the bar playing away from home and a man down. He didn't apply it to CCFC and how he sets up the team.

You can have quick, skillful players with a bit of nous like Rooney or Henry alone up front working the channels, or strong ones like Drogba if the midfield push up to support quickly, but neither ever happens here.

It's like going back to the Peter Reid 4-5-1/4-3-3 debate years ago. Yes, it can work, but only if you have the players and tactics to support it.

When we play 4-5-1 (it's not 4-4-1-1) it's a lump upfield for Besty (who it'd be now I don't know) to challenge in the air for it. If he wins it it takes the midfield a good ten seconds to get up in support, as they sit back just in case, by which time any potential advantage has been lost. We don't have players with enough pace to successfully try and work the channels.

It can work, but you need players to gamble a bit more in midfield to push up and support or you get no advantage. Ours don't, and it looks like they've been instructed not to. That's why this tactic won't work here.
